reptakon

a fake robot band formed from the skewed perspective of a cosmonauts mixed nature... put into sound... audio, streamed from filtered brain patterns... infused with a limited technology... passively paralelled... in lo-fidelity!!!
spector punk rock

I started reptakon when i was in a band with a college friend. The songs him and i played never took on any growth. they stayed in a certain genre that was destined to be doomed. I found that i was able to get more creative songs going by myself with out being limited to a genre. When i stopped hanging out with that band i had a rush of creativity, the red cd i made was the result ofthat and from then on i knew how to get what i wanted. I then tried working with another acomplis but found that i just didnt have the time to contribute to a colaborative band. reptakon became more of an invertion as time when on... latley i havnt even had time for my own music. its really disapointing to haveall this energy and desire for somthing that dosnt get you anywheres. but then again reptakon is about life and lack there of...

i was talking with someone on soundclick.com about the processin which i make music. It simply starts with an "absent minded bore" and a hand held little tape recorder, like one for interveiws n' such. i record little riffs i play and when i get to a point im not liking what im playing ill listen to the tape and improve apon a good riff or two, then comes song structureing; make a catchey chorus and a verse and ocationally a bridge to make the song solid. once there is some sort of structured song ill record a guitar over a simple drumbeat into the computer... occationally signing wordless vocals to try to find a vocal line. after a vocal line is liked ill get some words into the chorus and verses. this is when ill start programming drum loops. once there's a drum patteren/structure ill record a demo of the song with guitar bass vox drums. here ill try guitar leads recording ideas and working by trial n error. once the rough song is complete and is to my liking ill record the song in one sitting and another sitting, mix it.
